Flame Lantana Escapes the Crash and Burn

This is what was left.


Knowing I would run out just as I had finished the centre, I had to find something I thought would work:

Whew!  I wanted to finish in order to post right away so Tatskool could see her wondrous colourway quickly, but the downside of that manoeuver is that there are a gazillion MISTAKES all over the place!  This pattern looks so easy.  HA!  Try it.  You will see what I mean.  It really made me think - hard!

Next time I would take a little more time and care, because this is a really lovely pattern and with some slowing down, very doable.  I would not use my best thread for the practice run either!

  3. Wow, Fox! That is a STRIKING combination of colors! I think you did VERY well! I love to look at Tatted Artistry, but know that it will really be a stretch for me. I'm cutting my teeth on using diagrams alone with Tatting With Visual Patterns hoping to become confident enough to tackle a Tatted Artistry pattern. Great job showcasing Tatskool's beautiful thread!

    The book is a stretch for me as well, but only because the patterns are not written out, line per line.

    If you have patience and can read, there is nothing here beyond your skills or mine or any tatter that knows the basics. Just slow and steady.....that is what gets you through this book. Mainly its the willingness to sit down and think through the pattern before plowing ahead. At least that is what I think! : )) Fox

  8. Gorgeous color thread! I'm feeling too confident at the moment to tackle something too frustrating, but I sure like the work I've seen from that book.

  9. Hats off to you for pairing Flame Lantana with black (brilliant choice!) and for working a motif from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito.

    Have you considered pairing Flame Lantana and black with a butterfly pattern? It could metamorphose into a Monarch butterfly.
